How many Margaret River restaurants list a working website? (July 2026 scan)
We scanned 26 restaurants, cafés & takeaways listed in OpenStreetMap for Margaret River in July 2026. 17 of them (65%) have no website on their listing. Of the 9 that do, 1 (11%) failed to load when we fetched them, and 0 of the 8 we could test (0%) aren't set up for phones.
One honest caveat first: OpenStreetMap listings are community-maintained, so "no website on the listing" often means nobody added one — not that the business has none. The load failures and phone problems, though, are gaps we verified directly. Scanned on 2026-07-17; aggregate numbers only — no individual businesses are named on this page.
The numbers
| Businesses in sample | 26 | restaurants, cafés & takeaways with a name listed in OpenStreetMap for Margaret River |
| No website on their map listing | 17 (65%) | Sometimes the business has one and nobody mapped it — but an unlisted site is also an unfound site |
| Website listed but failed to load | 1 of 9 (11%) | Single automated fetch; sites behind bot protection counted as working |
| Not mobile-friendly | 0 of 8 testable (0%) | No mobile viewport declared — phones get a shrunken desktop page |
| High-opportunity overall | 17 (65%) | Listings whose web presence has clear, fixable gaps (our opportunity score ≥ 60) |
If you own one of them
None of this is a moral failing — most of these sites were fine when they were built. But your customers moved to phones, and Google moved with them. The three gaps above are exactly the ones that quietly send people to the restaurants down the road.
The good news: every one of them is a small, well-understood fix. Start with our plain-English guides — making your site work on phones, tap-to-call, and what to do when your site is down — or check your own site in ten seconds with the free tool below.
Method & honesty notes
Sample: every restaurants, cafés & takeaways venue with a name listed in OpenStreetMap within Margaret River's boundary (map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL). OpenStreetMap listings are community-maintained, so a business missing from the map is missing from this sample, and a stale listing can lag reality.
Website checks: one automated fetch of each listed homepage on 2026-07-17 with a normal browser user agent. Sites behind bot protection (403/429) are counted as working — we don't punish good security. "Mobile-friendly" means the page declares a mobile viewport; it's a strong signal, not a full audit. Treat every number here as a snapshot, not a verdict on any one business.
