THE GAP / 03
The best factories are often
the hardest to find.
Across China's manufacturing regions, many genuine factories run full production lines but no overseas front: no English-speaking sales team, often no export paperwork handled in their own name, and no time for international marketing. They focus on making things, sell through intermediaries, and stay invisible to overseas search.
The measurements behind the claims on this site. Every one is a census of a stated frame rather than a survey, and every one carries the date it was taken.
| Measurement | What it establishes | Frame | Taken |
| Registered-scope census | 74.6% of certified manufacturers carry import-export wording | 264 companies, whole frame | 8 Aug 2026 |
| Change-log census | 54.9% amended within 12 months; median 39 changes | Same 264 companies | 8 Aug 2026 |
| Official-source availability | Five of eight official hosts did not serve their front page | 8 hosts × 3 requests × 2 user agents | 8 Aug 2026 |
| Check-character strength | USCI catches 100% of single-character errors; VIN 92.5% | 2.9 million injected errors | 9 Aug 2026 |
| Single-result confirmation | 42.5% of name searches return nothing; 50.9% return exactly one row | 106 manufacturers, whole frame | 18 Aug 2026 |
| Delivery-path measurement | 134 of 153 report lines read without waiting for a person | 153-line menu, whole frame | 22 Aug 2026 |
Whatever question you start from, the answer traces back to one of these. Each is a whole frame rather than a sample, and each is dated — because scope wording, registrations and source availability all move. Where a claim would need a measurement we have not taken, the page says so instead of estimating.
So when you search for a "factory", what you find first is often a trading company presenting itself as one — sometimes several layers away from the workshop that actually makes your product. An honest trade partner adds real value: English communication, consolidation, quality checks, logistics. The problem is not the middleman. The problem is not knowing who you are actually buying from.
Currawong starts with the buyer’s question: screen the wording you have, use a commercial data source only when the page shows it is available, or arrange a scoped human public-record check. Future showcase profiles will use the same evidence-first standard: separate facts from claims, disclose sources and dates, and keep known gaps visible. No profile is a guarantee of outcome.
